As I tweeted Saturday morning, with the pouring down rain, we took off for Pretend City to blow off some steam before naps. LOTS of rainy day fun! By now most of you in Orange County have heard of Pretend City, if you have not, climb on out of your cave and check it out! We have an annual family membership for 4. I think at the time, I figured that we would need to go 1/month to make the membership a good value for us. We’ve already been 12 times since I purchased it this past September. So for us playing from now until September 2010 is free. Fun spot for both parents and kids. I ran into, and was able to catch up with a few friends that I had not seen in ages, and my husband ran in to a business aquaintence.
Addie and Hay….well they just ran into a lot of fun…
Addie handled 911 dispatch…
A little coloring…
Some jamming on stage with Hay…
Little grocery shopping…
Fixed a leak in the bathroom…
Helped add a new room on…
Had to stop and fuel up…
Then it was off to the boat races…
Not to be left out, Hay came to join her sis…
And oh the fun 2 can have is better than 1…
Off to grow their garden…
Our little bunny Hay…
Pretty much done in…
Until….

Mommy – “Wait Addie, I still need a name!”
Hubby – “Do you want Hay?”
Mommy – “She’s not dressed, she’s about to take a bath.
I can’t put her cute booty on the site!”
Hubby – “I’ll put her in something”
And “something” he did!

You know, it’s funny… I took my boys to Pretend City yesterday as well. I had actually never heard of the place, but heard about it from a friend a week or so ago. Finally had the chance to take the boys yesterday. Definitely lots of fun!

OK, I might be a paranoid mom but are you worried at all of the germs? I’m so hesitant to take my little one’s to a place like that right now with the flu going around and all. After all, kids love putting stuff in their mouths! How do you safeguard against picking anything up… besides toys?

Both of our kids have had their regular flu shots as well as H1N1. We also prefer to go to the member only hour at Pretend City that is from 9 – 10A. It opens to non members at 10A. I like to think this is the cleanest time. They also have cleaning stations at each of the play areas where you can leave your toys if your kids have had them in their mouths so they can be wiped down before the next child has it in his/her mouth. BUT I will also so, I’m a firm believer in the 5 second rule for food that falls in the ground and that dirt never hurt anyone. I dont try to expose the girls to extra germs, but also know there is only so much you can do and a little exposure helps build immunity!

I agree with you Shanna, my kids have been sick 3 TIMES in 3 months and I’m convinced they bring home DOUBLE the amount of germs (middle school variety AND preschool strains). I know the youngest suffers it worst but I figure we are in the trenches now or 2 years from now when her public school life starts. I think PRETEND CITY is on our list today, I have heard great things about it, again thanks for sharing your BRILLIANT ideas for the littles in our lives.
