As most of you know from stopping by each day, our third Little is going to be joining us Tuesday, March 9th (still keeping my fingers crossed we make it to the date!) As such, I have a treat to share with you all!!!
First off the truth, as I tell you repeatedly, I’m not super human!!! I’m a regular mom and regular person just like you, that just has lots of tricks up her sleeve!
The only thing I may do differently than others is organize our life to try to keep the chaos manageable….that being said, I’m pretty sure my hands will be full for the next few weeks once Baby #3 arrives…..
Soooooooooo, to manage the chaos….
The treat is…..
That I have lined up LOTS of amazing people to share ALL SORTS of fun Favorites with you all! No worries, you’ll still be hearing from me, I love chatting with you all too much to unplug completely, but I know my time will be limited. So get ready to hear from some AWESOME people! They are fellow bloggers, fellow moms, shop owners, designers…..LOADS of interesting and fun people from all different areas of life. But the one thing they all have in common is they are all FAVORITES, that will be coming to share their Favorites with all of us! I hope you enjoy and please take a minute to visit each of them back at their home sites where applicable, you wont be sorry!
Onto our first Guest Post…
I love reading Peace Love and Momminess! Debbie has such a great perspective and balance in life. I especially love her approach to keeping it all real! You’ll find a whole spectrum of categories on her site ranging from Health & Body, Soulful Style, Home & Harmony, Music Bar, and Daily Escapes to name a few. Most definitely worth checking out! When I first started reading PLM, we won tickets to a Kidrockers concert in LA! So much fun….I’ll post a photo at the end for you to see! Be sure to check out Debbie at Peace Love and Momminess!
Meet Debbie Lavdas.
“I started Peace, Love and Momminess out of sheer necessity really. You see, I was pretty laid back till I had kids. Then the insanity began. The running here, running there, juggling the job, the dog, the house, the family. I was tapped out—a kind of crazy drill-sergeant taxi service pleading my kids to, “Move it, move it, move it! Now, now, now!” I’d pray to find two matching socks in the morning. And beg my kids to “work with me” for the love of mommy’s well being. I had to do something. So I took a step back, looked at the big picture, and started to slow down. I began to see the light and the need to simplify and find daily solutions that worked for me. Knowing there were Moms everywhere just like me, I wanted to create a space to help Moms breathe easier. Welcome to Peace, Love and Momminess (I’m learning it is possible to have all three).” Debbie Lavdas / Peace, Love & Momminess
Looking for ways to protein up? You might just be down for this recipe. Simple, fast, easy protein shakes tailored for moms and kids. Calorie, carb, fat and protein counts attached too.And psst, if you know me, you know I don’t do recipes, because welI … I don’t cook. But I am one for good health and wellness, and I’m out to change my ways in 2010 by getting healthier and eating a more organic, balanced diet. So who knows what’s ahead. That said, this whipped-up wealth of goodness is care of my organic-off-the-chart friend and wellness queen, Gabrielle Tschopp seen here (if I drink this maybe I’ll get her abs, green knowledge and fab cooking skills?). Enjoy.
FOR KIDS:
1 C crushed ice
8 oz organic milk, almond milk, rice milk or water
1 scoop protein powder (Designer Whey Chocolate)
1 ripe banana
1 scoop Green SuperFood (Amazing Grass Chocolate Drink Powder)
Blend and serve immediately.
Makes approx. 16 oz.:Â Calories 350, Protein 27g, Carb 45g
(Note: This makes a great breakfast and/or after-school snack. The only thing that is missing is good fat. If allergies are not a concern, you can add 1T of natural peanut butter or other nut butter for an additional 100 calories, or chase with 2t of omega-3 fish oil or flax oil which would add about 50 calories.)
FOR MOMS:
1 C crushed ice
8 oz water (or unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
1 scoop protein powder (Designer Whey Chocolate or Vanilla)
½ ripe banana
1 T natural peanut butter
1 scoop Green SuperFood (Amazing Grass Chocolate Drink Powder)
Blend and serve immediately.
Makes approx. 16 oz.:Â Calories 290, Protein 20g, Carb 15g, Fat 7g
(Note: This is a fabulous breakfast that will keep you super energized for three hours! Drink 90 minutes prior to a workout for amazing strength and endurance. Also good for the afternoon lull.)
By the way, I personally just made the smoothie for my kids and they guzzled happily. And the Mom version was also delicious. Happy, healthy 2010, friends!
I’m with you Debbie, if my abs can turn out that fabulous, especially after 3 years of pregnancies, then I’m ALL FOR THESE SHAKES! Thanks for sharing!!

What a great post! My kids would LOVE these shakes — all 4 of them!
Best of luck with baby #3! I truly think going from 1 to 2 was much more challenging than 2 – 3… if that makes you feel any better!
Will be thinking of you!

I just picked up a bunch of stuff to start making smoothies for all of us. It’s such an easy and tasty way to get those extra nutrients we all need. :)

You are too kind! But you are right, her abs are ridiculous – not even sure I can get there in a year!!

Gosh girls, thanks for all the comments on my abs! I’m blushing! :)
As Debbie mentioned, the chocolate (as well as vanilla) protein powder is at TJ’s for about $11 a canister. As far as the greens powder goes, there are lots of companies and versions out there, and I happen to like the Amazing Grass brand (about $25 a canister). You can find it at Henry’s, The Vitamin Shoppe and even amazon.com. I get the chocolate version for this chocolate/peanut butter/banana version, and a berry version for a berry smoothie that I do. I find that these “hide” well in the protein shakes as I do stuff on the “down low” for my kids! Yup, I also sneak in fish oil, probiotics, fiber, etc. whenever I can! These greens are great for adults and kids alike in terms of antioxidants and even detoxification.
Keep your blender on the counter and make shakes every day for you and your kids — your minds and bodies will thank you! :)

I want those abs too! D.A.N.G. (working on my Mommy envy right now)
Hope all went well at the diagnostic center. Those nurses are great. I was only thinking/speculating, you were just one interpretation strip away from Labor and Delivery.
Glad all is groovy and you have more time to prepare.
