a whole lotta fun at FUNundrum!

With Addie now 2  years old, And Hayden our 1 year copying EVERYTHING Addie does, we’ve entered this fun stage of Hubs and I getting to be kids again.  What do I mean you ask?  Well before you had kids did you often find yourself jumping in bouncy houses?  Spending long afternoons at Disneyland? Riding kids roller coasters? Staring in fascination at aquariums, trash trucks and airplanes in the sky??  Maybe you did, maybe you didn’t.  No one has to know your secrets!

BUT Hubs and I have lately been enjoying all those carefree activities that you forget can be so much fun….

Fun?  Did someone say fun???  How about FUNundrum!!

2010 is the 200th anniversary of the greatest showman of all time, P.T. Barnum!

For those asking WHO is P.T. Barnum...ummm, just the guy behind the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!  Ever heard of it???  You know that show called THE CIRCUS!

This year to celebrate the legacy of the greatest showman, Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey’s presents “Barnum’s FUNundrum”

Couple things you should know:

  1. Today, June 30th, is the last day to a nominate a southland stand-out kid who is making a difference in our community for the “The Barnum Award.  Attached is a flyer on how you can nominate a child between the ages of 8-14 who you feel  demonstrates the entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit of P.T. Barnum. You just need to answer a few brief questions on the online application at www.thebarnumaward.com. First, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes to continue their service. The award ceremony will be on opening night at the Honda Center, July 28th
  2. Second, we knew being a Mom held a lot of power, but did you know using the code “MOM” you can receive a discount off the a multi-ticket discount, with a special $48 Family Four-Pack Offer on select performances or $4 off single ticket prices on select shows. The discount can be redeemed online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000 . To redeem, just use the oh so very cool and powerful discount code “MOM” .

Now I could tell you all about what you might see…you know the 130 performers from six continents, almost 100,000 pounds of performing pachyderms (elephants – I looked it up!), the 13 athletes on a Russian bar, seven motorcycle riders in a Globe of Steel, the attempt to complete a quadruple somersault on a flying trapeze, the  body benders, the strongest man in the world and the two tiered trampoline…

But I’m more of a picture-tells-a-thousand-words kinda girl….

For the local readers, Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey’s , “Barnums FUNundrum” will be performing at STAPLES Center, July 14- 18; Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, July 21-25, and the Honda Center, Anaheim, July 28-August 8. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.  Prices range form $12 to $100.  But don’t forget the power of “MOM” promo code!

And just to add one more FUN thing for your family, one hour before show time, families can meet the performers, get autographs, and see an amazing elephant that paints, at the ALL ACCESS PRE SHOW – Free with your purchased performance ticket.

All that just sounds like a WHOLE LOTTA FUN for a summer day or night!

If you are not a local reader, be sure to checkout the full show schedule at www.ticketmaster.com to see when THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH will be in your area!

How was Hayden at the circus? Was she interested? I might consider taking my daughter (she’d be 1.5 years) if I feel up to it with a 2-3 week old newborn b/c really – how often does the circus come to town? (I have no idea, probably every year. lol)

We have not gone with the kids yet. We are going on Wed night with Addie, and then taking both kids on Saturday. Hayden is hit or miss with these kinds of things. I find she does better when she is with older kids that she is watching and copying. Not sure how she’ll do but we’re giving it a shot!

If you go, don’t miss the pre-show. It’s been several years since I took my older two, but I recall that being the best part. Oh, and there was a motorcycle element to the show at the time that was kinda loud (and my otherwise brave daughter was terrified of loud noises). I’m sure the show changes, but might not be a bad idea to bring along those baby earmuff things from your favorites Shanna!

We live in LA and took my 3 year old son last weekend at the Staples Center. We LOVED it. It was so much better than I ever expected. Thanks for the recommendation. We can’t wait to go back next year. The preshow was great because he could meet the clowns and see the elephants and stilt walkers up close. It was a great way to start the show. Wouldn’t have gone without seeing it on your post. Thanks!
